The Village at Ithaca invites you to attend the premiere screening of our inaugural short film, The Stolen Joy Project, on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 7:30 PM ET.
The Stolen Joy Project features a collection of stories from people of color, performed by local actors, recounting times when their joy was stolen by the oppressive hand of an education system designed to oppress. You can read more about this project and stories of students in our local, Ithaca School District on our website, villageatithaca.org.
The screening will be followed by a short Q&A with Village Executive Director, Meryl Phipps, Program Assistant Shanta Carr, and Youth Project Coordinator, Autum Niver, to expand the conversation around larger oppressive, racist systems that operate within public schools.Time
