System Change

Programming

We recognize that injustice is built into all major systems, from education to housing. Our programs fight these injustices while empowering our young people to be leaders in this work through responsive programming.

Professional Development and Consulting on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We provide professional development to both school districts throughout the region and to any local businesses or other organizations who are seeking guidance on how to implement DEI policies and procedures authentically and sustainably. These services include: professional development, suspension mediation, equity-driven support to district human resources departments, support for youth and families, and responsive programming.

Public School Collaborative Equity Work

We advocate for systemic change at the school district and county level by working with a variety of initiatives including the Equity and Inclusion Leadership Council, PTA Council, and many others.  We have been collaborating with Ithaca City School District on the Annual Equity Report Card since 2006, a tool that uses district-wide trends to analyze racial, social economic, and ability disproportionality across various metrics.

Village House

On August 6th, the Village at Ithaca officially purchased the property known as Village House, where we have been running a transitional housing program for homeless youth for the past four years.  This is an amazing milestone for us, as it will lower our monthly operational costs and preserve our ability to use this property to support homeless youth for as long as needed.

Unfortunately, ongoing funding is still a challenge for us.  We had to take on $17,000 more debt than anticipated to finalize the purchase, and ot monthly mortgage will still cost approximately $4,000, not including utilities and water.

We pride ourselves on doing the best we can with the limited resources available, and we are only able to do that with the support of community members like you.    Thank you to those who have already donated to our Housewarming GoFundMe.

We hope you’ll share this video and help us raise the funds we need to make this program last as long as it is needed — until our community has successfully ended youth homelessness, and all young people can truly experience the beauty of home
